![]() I drove my '04 HARD, reaching redline at least once per day. ![]() In fact, it's the MOST reliable vehicle I've owned, and I'm expecting nothing less from my current ride (a '10 6S GT), and so far so good (got about 9.5K miles so far).Īnd no, my cars are NOT babied. Other than that, NO problems, and NO extra $$$$ spent mechanically on anything other that regular maintenance and winter tires/wheels. The only issue I had was a faulty gas cap (which the dealer replaced under warranty). Sorry to hear the OP has had such bad luck with their '04.Ĭonversely, my previous Mazda (a '04 6S, same as the OP) was nothing BUT reliable for the 92K miles I had it. They've been at are near the bottom of the charts for years. They made a comment about buying a wagon for biking and such I warned them to steer clear of Mazda.Īn don't kid yourself Shrod Mazda reliability has only started to improve in the last 2 years. I had a couple checking-out my car at a convenience store a couple months back. Same with adding a tranny cooler, inline filter, and synthetic fluid. ![]() Hopefully removing the cats, frequently changing the PCV, and doing a preemptive change of the coils will prevent three common areas of failure. I consider myself lucky nothing serious has happened with my car. It's just one of the reason their cars take a major dive in resale value compared to other makes on like-cars. As much as idiots want to proclaim JD Power is somehow biased towards Mazda, sad fact is Mazda has earned it's reputation. And when you consider your 'Mazda' is mechanically a Ford from the some of Ford's darker days, it's no surprise.
